Our Mission: Extending the message and ministry of Jesus Christ into all the
world.
Our Vision: To become a vibrant
community of dedicated Christians who are serving the Lord in an urban setting in the heart of Hampton Roads.

We invite you to come and share a
worship experience with us. We are located in the Shea Terrace section of
Portsmouth about 1/2 mile from I. C. Norcom High School and next to the
Midtown tunnel exit on London Blvd. Enjoy Christian fellowship and grow
spiritually closer to God, starting with Sunday School and Morning Worship,
then on Monday with visitation, followed on Tuesday
with a morning Bible Study and finally lots of Wednesday night activities
starting with Senior Choir, Dinner, Awana Clubs & Youth Ministries and the Adult
Bible Study or Adult Choir. Preschool care is available for Sunday morning
and Wednesday night activities.
Dr. Philip Parker, pastor and Dr. Harold
“Hal” Hostetler, associate pastor, work diligently to provide spiritual
guidance to Calvary’s members, visiting guests and our
local community. Come and experience a time of praise as our orchestra and
choir lifts your spirit with a mixture of traditional and contemporary
songs under the guidance of Don Carter, our choir director. Our
children’s sermon is a time for youngsters to hear a special message,
interact with the pastor or sing a song that relates to God’s word.
Children’s Church follows the children’s sermon so that parents can enjoy
the pastor’s message.
Calvary is an Acts 1:8 church. We
believe God has called us to reach out and minister to our local community,
within our immediate city, within our state and to the ends of the earth.
We are a Military Friendly Church and have several leaders that specifically
embrace military families that may be stationed in our immediate area or
possibly away on duty. We are actively involved working with the homeless,
assisting with a
local food pantry, ministering to individuals with the Seafarer’s ministry,
witnessing and providing bedding & toiletries to migrant worker camps on the
Eastern shore and reaching out to other nations by sending mission teams to
Honduras, Trinidad and Chile.
God can use all types of vessels to
share his word and God is not a respecter of person. He does not care about
your past or look at your age, color, race or sex. He does not hate the
sinner but only the sin. God’s word states in Romans 3:23, “That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Our deeds, works and actions will not gain us access into heaven but it is
only through the realization that we are all sinners can we have
eternal life.
John 3:16 states,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him, should not parish but have ever lasting life.”
If you wish to have eternal life, you must believe that you are a
sinner and realize that only through the shedding of Christ’s blood can
salvation be achieved.
If you would like to make a decision for
salvation or have just done so, please contact the church office and ask to
speak with the pastor. We would be happy to rejoice with you in this
experience and provide additional resources or information as needed.
In Christ’s Love,
Philip Parker
