NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONS

Day one of the Week of Prayer for North American Missions features Daniel and Marta Caceres.  The adults will view a video this Wednesday night covering his Hispanic Church Planting ministry.  The Youth Mission Study will feature the videos “Who Needs a Hero?” and “A Passion to Serve.”  Calvary’s goal is $3,000.

INASMUCH MINISTRY

Calvary will be participating as a host church for the Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless beginning next Sunday and continuing through Tuesday night (March 9 –11).  Sign-up sheets have been posted on the bulletin board in the hallway to the sanctuary.  As as of this morning, we need a third person to spend the night each of the three nights from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.  (a male on Sunday evening, a female on Monday evening and a male on Tuesday evening).  We also need additional folks to spend a few hours greeting our guests, providing guidance based on the shelter “rules,” and answering any questions they may have.  If you would be interested in assisting with this special “Jerusalem” ministry, please sign up this morning.  If you have any questions, please contact Regina Harrington (966-7044) or Lois Brisbin.

EASTER LILIES

You may order Easter lilies by contacting Betty Buchanan or stopping by the church office.  The cost is $10.00 per plant and the money is due when you place your order.  Deadline for placing your order is Tuesday, March 18th.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICES

On Friday, March 21st, Cottage Place United Methodist Church will have a 3 hour service, beginning at 12:00 noon and ending at 3:00 p.m.  Six local pastors, including our own, will speak in half hour segments on the last words spoken by Christ as He hung on the cross.  Special music will be presented by local musicians.  You will be free to come and go as your personal schedule permits.  That same evening we will have a special service here at Calvary beginning at 7:00 p.m.  We will focus on the sacrificial death of Christ and its meaning for our lives through a special chalk drawing and devotional.

EASTERN SHORE MISSION TRIP

Mark your calendar now for July 13-19, 2008.  The signup sheet for the Eastern Shore Mission Trip is on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary.  If you have any questions, see Mary Cutchins (Judea).

LAWN CARE

Each spring and summer members of our church volunteer to cut the grass around the church’s facilities.  It helps to make our church a much more attractive place in which to worship and serve the Lord.  If you would like to be a member of one of our grass cutting teams, please contact Bill White at 397-2424 or call the church office.
